Losing Weight
The very fact that you are reading this means that you need help in losing weight. Perhaps you have already tried one or more diets but you have not been effective in losing weight, or you have found that you put the weight back on quickly once you have stopped dieting. Obviously you cannot be on a diet forever, so once you go back to your old eating habits, you will put the weight back on.
Help is at Hand
Actually it is not very difficult to lose weight on a low calorie diet program. First of all a low calorie diet program need not be extremely restrictive, which is one of the reasons a lot of diets fail. You have to understand the basics of a low calorie diet program. Such a diet program simply substitutes calorie dense foods with low calorie foods.
How you can change your eating habits
Effective weight loss will not happen unless you make some changes to your eating habits. If you continue to eat the same foods which made you put on weight in the first place, you cannot lose weight, no matter how much physical exercise you may do. If you go on a low calorie diet program, however, you can lose weight effectively.
You have to cut out fatty foods in your diet. The first things to go should be the unnecessary and sometimes invisible fats that you consume in the form of fried foods, be it fries, wafers or fried foods which come in packets and so are ready to eat. Then there are the restaurant foods which you may be consuming, whether it is doughnuts or fried fish, burgers or any fast foods for that matter.
If you congratulate yourself that you are eating salads, but the salads are doused in dressings, there is your hidden fat! It is certainly not part of a low calorie diet program unless you are having an extremely low calorie dressing.
Something like pizza, too, is loaded with fat, thanks in part to the oil in the dough and even more due to the fat in the loads of cheese which is put on the pizza. Then there are the fats in desserts, whether it is cream in cakes and pastries or mousse, or cheesecake. Ice-creams, too, are loaded with fat.
How you can change your cooking habits
You need to use little or no oil in your foods. Use non-stick pans and cooking sprays to cut out fats from your diet. Instead of deep or shallow frying foods, try grilling or oven roasting them. Choose lean cuts of meat and try to avoid red meats in favor of white meats which are low in fat. If you do this you are automatically reducing calories and going on a low calorie diet program, without sacrificing taste.
Gorging on low calorie foods
You never have to go hungry when you are trying out an effective weight loss plan. You can always gorge on foods with are not calorie dense. Any foods which have high water content (unless it is stuff like milkshakes) are not calorie dense.
For example instead of eating a banana, eat an orange. Instead of juice, eat the whole fruit. Potatoes are not calorie dense unless they are fried or buttered or you eat too many. Boiled or steamed rice can be had without guilt in an effective weight loss plan. Eat lots of raw fruits which are low in calories, eat lots of salad or raw or steamed vegetables (without butter) to satisfy your hunger pangs instead of reaching for a packet of cookies.
Losing weight
Once you incorporate small changes in your eating habits, you will find that you are actually losing weight without too much effort. Don’t expect overnight results. Each pound of weight comes from 3500 calories, so for each pound loss you need to eat that many calories less. Once you go on a low calorie diet program which is right for you, you will be successful in losing weight.
