There is an amazing amount of free weight loss information on the internet as well as a tremendous amount of online weight loss programs. Be careful of what you come across as much of it is geared only to directing you towards a specific brand or service and many are just trying to sell you snake oil. Do not sign up for anything; do not pay for anything you find. If it lists itself as a free resource, then it should be a free resource, not something that says it’s free but then several clicks into the site, asks you to sign up or pay for anything.
Keep your personal information to yourself. Remember that any site promising to have the cure to any weight issues is a sham. Online weight loss programs all boil down to a few things (free or paid):
- A method to track and store your daily intake of food
- A resource for looking up or counting calories or other nutritional information
- Recipes for low fat, low calorie, low sodium, etc. meals
- Helpful hints
Except none of these online weight loss programs actually help you loss weight permanently. Rather they just feed the weight loss industry and their temporary solutions, hoping to get you on the diet Merry-Go-Round. So use this information wisely and remember that you are not only trying to lose weight but you are trying to change your eating habits.
Plan your new eating and fitness habits before doing too much internet research as you may be led astray and hooked into a shortcut (and we all know that there isn’t a shortcut when it comes to losing weight and getting into better physical condition.
Here is a list of some of the better weight loss information available to you.
Body Fat, BMI and Ideal Weight Calculator:
http://www.freeweightloss.com/calculator.html

http://www.free-online-health.com/
This is another good internet site with a lot of good resources.
In addition to weight loss information, there is an incredible amount of exercise information on the internet. Again, keep your personal information to yourself and do not sign up or pay for anything. Here is listing of a few of the better sites.
Fitness Begin
http://www.fitnessbegin.com/
A nice internet site, (with only a few commercial links), that provides information on starting an exercise program.

http://www.healthchecksystems.com/exercise.htm
Here is a site that has some good exercise tools and tips for you to use in conjunction with your exercise program. Just watch out for the commercial links.

http://www.healthyexerciseworld.com/
Here is another site that has some commercial links, but also has some good information you can access for free.
Other weight loss information, besides looking on the internet, can still be found in your local library (and it’s all free!). The same warnings apply to what you may find in the library; stay away from fad diets (or really diets of any kind – remember you are trying to change your eating habits permanently) or anything labelled ‘quick’ or ‘easy’ or anything that asks you to pay.
Choose better foods in moderate amounts and a moderate fitness program and you will have all of the weight loss information you need to be a better you.
