There are many people who have tried different diets and not been successful, even though they claim to eat less, follow fitness plans and do everything else associated with a good diet. They just cannot seem to lose weight. Can hypnosis help them in losing weight? How can it help?

Can hypnosis help in losing weight?

Hypnosis is of some help in losing weight. But if you think that you can follow your normal diet and eat what you want and not go in for any physical regime and that you will lose weight just by using hypnosis, you will be wrong.

Hypnosis can help you by building your discipline, by reinforcing the methods used in diets, by may be reducing your craving for fatty or high calorie foods. Hypnosis can use aversion therapy so that you don’t want to eat high fat foods as well as reinforcement of your own reasons for wanting to lose weight. You can lose weight with the help of hypnosis. But that is all it will be – a help, not a cure-all. As an aid it can work. Along with a diet it can help.

Find a hypnosis practitioner

Firstly you need to find a good hypnosis practitioner. Perhaps your medical practitioner can help with this. Or you can try a psychiatrist or a licensed hypnotist. You need to find a person who not only is good at hypnosis, but also knows something about food and diet so that he can help in a holistic manner. If you want to go it alone there are cds and other media available freely and you can try them out to test their efficacy.

How hypnosis helps in losing weight

If you can be hypnotized then it can help you lose weight in an effective manner and keep the weight off as well. This is because hypnosis can help you get to the root of the problem of why you put on weight. For example you may be using food as a crutch or it gives you emotional satisfaction or fills a void in your life. Once the problem is identified then it can be solved.

Hypnosis can help you develop a more positive self image and clear the hurdles which are blocking your weight loss. If you can feel good about yourself, then it becomes easier to lose weight and keep it off.

Losing weight through diet control

You know that perhaps you are eating the wrong foods and that is contributing to your weight gain. But it is very difficult to think of a life without comfort foods, no matter how fattening they are. These foods may be high in fats or high in sugars or both. Hypnosis can help keep your food cravings at bay and help you make the right food choices.

But you still need to actually eat the right foods and go on a diet. Hypnosis can help you, but you also have to help yourself so that you can lose weight. Whether this means behavior modification or consciously eating right, eating at proper times, eating whole foods instead of refined, staying away from sodas and other empty calorie beverages, you have to learn to do it

Hypnosis alone will not work

When you want to lose weight, there is really no easy way out. No matter what anybody says without diet modification there is no miracle cure by which you can lose weight. Hypnosis can help you to a limited degree – it can reinforce your will power, it can inculcate a sense of discipline, it can strengthen your determination – all these will help you lose weight as long as you are also eating right.

Losing weight through hypnosis, diet control and a good exercise or any physical activity program can be successful provided you take the initiative and take control of yourself. Hypnosis is an aid to dieting, but not the only thing which you will need to do to lose weight effectively.
