Want the bottom line for healthy weight loss?  Want to know how to lose weight?  The key is routine for healthy weight loss.  Decide on a plan of how to lose weight and then stick to it.  How many times have you made the decision to start exercising or start eating healthy to lose weight and a few months into it, you just stop?  You could get a cold or go on vacation, whatever the reason that breaks your routine, the result is the same: no more healthy weight loss.

To maintain a healthy weight loss program, you need to know where you are going.  Do you want to lose weight to overcome a health issue?  Do you want to lose weight to fit into those pair of jeans you like so much?  Do you want to lose weight so you can walk up stairs without being out of breath?  All of those reasons will lead you to the right routine for you so that you know how to lose weight and can achieve your goal.

As with any healthy weight loss program, you want to check with your physician to make sure what you have planned as to how to lose weight is suitable for your current physical condition, age, etc.  Always start out slow and build up if including an exercise program into your routine.

If you are going to diet, stop reading now.  Diets are the road to ruin.  Change your habits for the better and you’ll never look back and achieve healthy weight loss.  A routine is a long term commitment to a program of healthy eating and exercise.  How to lose weight for a lifetime of happiness starts by changing your habits.

If you just want to lose a few pounds, then healthy eating is the routine you want to adopt for your healthy weight loss program.  Cutting out snacks before bedtime, avoiding temptations at work or family gatherings (we’re talking alcohol and cake here) and choosing fresh foods over processed foods (anything canned or ‘prepared’) will allow you to drop those pesky few extra pounds in no time at all and is how to lose weight right!

If you are starting your healthy weight loss program with better eating and also starting an exercise routine, know what to expect.  Even if you start slow with the exercise portion of your program (which you should!) your healthy weight loss at the beginning will be much greater than even one month down the road.  As your body becomes accustomed to doing the exercise routine you have chosen, it will take less effort to perform those exercises and so your weight loss will become less.  The other contributing factor is that as you exercise you are converting fat into muscle and muscle weighs more than fat.

Developing your routine will depend on your lifestyle, family and work obligations as well as what you plan on doing.  Are you a morning person or night person?  Are you doing exercise outside or inside?  Do you have to travel to do you exercise routine or just go to the basement?  Plan ahead so you know you will be able to get your routine started without any issues.  Write out your routine for the first four to six weeks of your program and remember to start slow and slowly build up.  Exercising that first day or week too hard will only end up with you feeling so sore you don’t (or can’t) continue and is not how to lose weight.

Having trouble coming up with your healthy weight loss routine?  Consult any number of books on the type of exercise you are going to be doing.  Almost all books on walking, running, jogging, biking, weight lifting, or swimming have a beginners section that suggest programs for starting from scratch.  Follow these suggested routines!  They will allow you to start at a pace you can master and allow you to build up to a level that will have you in shape and losing weight in short order.

Stick to your healthy weight loss routine whenever possible it is how to lose weight.  Plan ahead when you take vacations or travel.  Try to incorporate you new routine with your vacation plans.  If biking is your exercise, then look at the available biking tours.  If walking is your exercise, plan a vacation at a national park where you can hike.  A little effort will go a long way to helping you stick to your routine and continuing a healthy weight loss program
